Full Get Online groups!!
The current Get Online groups are all fully booked and being attended by more than 40 learners each week. This involves providing help to people with a very wide range of devices, from laptops, to iPads and tablets and also some smart phones! Over the five weekly sessions people work through their own Personal Plan which can cover everything from the basics of how a device works to specific issues like setting up e-mail and Skype and how to effectively search on and use the internet. Besides promoting general digital literacy we actively encourage learners to begin accessing and engaging with library and wider council services now available online
All groups are supported by our volunteer team who work with learners in small groups (according to device and level of experience) or, often, 1:1 throughout the sessions.
In each block of five sessions, Get Online is currently providing one group/week at aimed at iPad users only. This is currently being offered at Stockbridge Library and is delivered in a mix of tutor-led class and exercises with additional volunteer support working in small groups. These iPad ‘surgeries’ will be available at alternating venues.
MORE TO COME!
Get Online will be available at two new venues from the end of this month – Leith Library and Drumbrae Hub – in addition to further new groups starting at East Neighbourhood Centre (Craigmillar), Central Library and Morningside. All dates/times for forthcoming groups will be confirmed here very soon.
